Delivery of orders placed with Safegear

Safegear uses: 1) Parcel carriers parcels up to 20 kg; 2) freight carriers for pallets (primarily DHL); and 3) specialist companies for the installation of safes.

There is no extra charge if your goods are delivered in several shipments. This can happen if the ordered items have different lead times or if items ship directly from the manufacturer.

Delivery within the first stated lead time is not guaranteed. Safegear accepts no liability for discontinued or back-ordered items, for delays caused by the carrier, for costs arising from such delays, or for mis-delivered or defective goods.

Parcels

Parcels under 20 kg ship from our own warehouse or directly from the manufacturer. If no one is home at delivery, a note is left so the parcel can be collected from the nearest post office or parcel shop. You normally receive an email with a tracking number so you can follow your parcel — though this is not always the case when a parcel ships directly from a manufacturer.

Freight carrier

Used primarily for businesses and the public sector, but also for deliveries of items such as safes to private customers. Goods are usually on a pallet, which the carrier delivers to the kerbside or door. The carrier does not help carry safes up stairs or similar. Freight delivery generally requires someone at the address to sign for the goods; if the carrier has to leave the pallet in a driveway or similar, this is at the customer's own risk. For deliveries to private customers we give the carrier your phone number and ask them to call before arrival. If you are not present, the carrier leaves a note and you must then collect the goods from a nearby distribution centre or arrange a new delivery, which may incur a fee.

Safes – delivery, installation and bolting down

Safegear can arrange installation and bolting down of safes for an additional charge. By default, the standard price covers delivery to the kerbside only.

Installation and bolting down by specialists starts from 300 EUR incl. VAT and depends on: 1) the weight and volume of the safe; 2) access conditions (floor level, lift or stairs); 3) geographic location; and 4) any bolting of the safe to the floor or wall.

We cannot arrange a specific delivery time or ensure discretion at delivery when shipping parcels. Most burglary- or fire-tested safes are too heavy to ship as a parcel.

Options for greater discretion at delivery:
1) Safegear handles delivery and installation; 2) collection from our warehouse (by prior arrangement); or 3) delivery to your work address, which conceals the final location from the carrier (always check with your employer first).

Collection of orders

Safegear offers collection of items held at our own warehouse. You may still pay a handling fee equal to the delivery cost, as it is more labour-intensive than dispatching the day's orders together. Some items are held at a remote warehouse and must first be transferred to our own warehouse. Collection must be arranged in advance, as items may be temporarily out of stock or held remotely.

Receiving goods and freight damage

If the packaging shows signs of damage, open the parcel immediately and, where possible, with the carrier present. If they cannot wait, always note on the delivery receipt that you receive the parcel with reservations. If you open the parcel with the carrier present and the item is damaged, refuse receipt and contact Safegear immediately. Safegear must be notified of freight damage immediately. If you discover damage later, contact us straight away — please take photos as you open the parcel, and keep the packaging, as the carrier often requires it when handling the claim.
