Q-30 Chemical Safety Cabinet

The Q-30 is a chemical safety cabinet with 30 minutes of fire resistance, for storing flammable liquids and other hazardous substances in a workplace. Four sizes are available, all 1947 mm high and 620 mm deep, in widths from 564 to 1164 mm, with capacities from 380 to 886 litres and three movable shelves in each cabinet. The range covers both Q-CLASSIC and Q-DISPLAY models.

What a 30-minute fire rating means

A fire-rated chemical cabinet is built to hold its contents below ignition temperature for a stated period once a fire starts around it, giving people time to leave the building and the fire service time to arrive before the stored substances make the fire worse. Thirty minutes is the shorter of the two ratings we stock. Whether 30 minutes is enough for your premises is a question of national workplace-safety law and your own fire risk assessment, so confirm the requirement with your safety officer or local authority before ordering.

Sizes and alternatives

The tall Q-30 cabinet suits a laboratory, workshop or store room where containers are stood on shelves and reached at eye level. Where a longer rating is required, the Q-90 chemical safety cabinet is the same tall format with 90 minutes of fire resistance. Where floor space is tight, the UB-90 range is an under-bench cabinet, 600 to 800 mm high, that fits beneath a laboratory bench or fume cupboard.
